Artists
Shannon performed with the San Diego Ballet and as a freelance artist throughout southern California before moving to Cleveland, Ohio in 2001 where she completed masters degrees in nutrition and contemporary dance at Case Western Reserve University. In Ohio, she performed with Great Lakes Festival Ballet, Verb Ballets, and Dancing Wheels Company. Shannon is now an Assistant Professor of Dance at CWRU. Photo: Fenna Blue
Andrea received her BS in kinesiology with a concentration in dance science from Texas A&M University and is a second-year graduate student in the Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University. Andrea toured throughout the United States, Cuba, and Mexico with the University of Texas at El Paso Ballet under Ingeborg Heuser. Karlie is a third-year student at Case Western Reserve University majoring in dance and statistics. Karlie performed for ten years with the Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble, and was able to tour throughout the United States and internationally to Sri Lanka and Jordan. She has appeared in works by Mark Morris, Pascal Rioult, Shannon Sterne, and Randy Duncan. Photo: August Houston
Amanda earned her BFA in dance from Kent State University, and is now a third-year graduate student in the Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University where she has performed works by James Hansen, Mark Morris, Karen Potter, and Pascal Rioult. Amanda attended the 2013 Summer Intensive at the Martha Graham School for Contemporary Dance on scholarship and received a 2014 Eva L Pancoast Memorial Fellowship to study dance in The Hague, The Netherlands. Rebecca earned her BFA in dance performance at Butler University. Since graduating, Rebecca has danced with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in their MASA program, MamLuft&Co. A Cleveland native, Dezaré is a founding member of CDX. She began her professional dance career as an apprentice with Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theatre before The Dancing Wheels Company in 2007. She also was featured as an extra in two major motion pictures, “FUN SIZE” and “Marvel’s, The Avengers.” Currently, Dezaré is attending the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s, MASA Dance Journey Program in Ga’aton, Israel. Heather holds an MFA in contemporary dance from Case Western Reserve University, and is currently a part-time lecturer in dance at CWRU and Cleveland State University. She worked with GroundWorks Dance Theater as a Teaching Artist, and recently joined the “Read to Learn…Dance to Move” program with DanceCleveland. Heather dances with Antaeus Dance, and her most recent work “Let My Hero In” was created on the company for Cleveland Public Theatre’s DanceWorks 2014. Photo: Mike Young
Dancer, choreographer, and founding CDX member Sara hails from Columbus OH. She graduated with Honors and a degree in dance teaching and choreography from Mercyhurst University. Sara currently dances with The Dancing Wheels Company and teaches at several Cleveland area dance studios. Her choreography includes “BACKspace” (2009) and “Extra! Extra!” (2010) as part of Cleveland Public Theatre’s Big [Box] Series, as well as “Revolutions” (2012) for The Dancing Wheels Company. Photo: Larry Coleman
Alyssa earned a BA in philosophy, dance, and political science from the College of Wooster, and an MFA in dance choreography and performance from Mills College. Alyssa holds numerous Pilates and fitness certifications, is the founding artistic director of group A, and created, owns and operates The Movement Factory in Lakewood, Ohio.
